Deanna DeMola - 'All About You'

Music Review by Mastt Wong & Staff

Deanna DeMola is a singer-songwriter from Long Island whose music invokes an alternative pop style in her lyrics and performances. Influenced by Billie Eilish, Paramore, and Halsey, Deanna's songs address personal and social challenges. A few years ago, Deanna began to struggle with depression and anxiety. She felt lost and hopeless, and these feelings only grew over time. Eventually, she found solace in singing and playing music. Music gave her a voice to share her emotions and experiences. Currently, Deanna has finished working in the studio with Songwriter/Producer Jimmy Greco (Carlos Santana / Paramore / Jennifer Lopez / Train) on her debut EP, Under Construction. It includes six heartfelt original songs that represent her journey as an artist. As her videos go viral, Deanna is reaching her goalsand the sky is the limit. A great way to get to know her talent, is to check out her single, "All About You."

“All About You” is an alternative pop song with an infectious melody and DeMola’s voice is perfect for the song. Produced and co-written by Jimmy Greco, the song is comprised primarily of electronic elements, and has a tight groove that will make listeners want to move to the music. In addition, there are interesting motif-bits that pop in and out, providing effective melodic contrast to the melody.

The lyrics behind “All About You” are about an ex-boyfriend who realizes that he wants back what he cannot have, only because now a relationship would be convenient for him. DeMolas sings about how it’s been “almost a year since [he’s] left, but now he’s “blowing up [her] phone, talking about random shit, like [they] could be friends. The lyric “one day you’ll know it’s not about you” conveys the frustration she’s feeling to the listener.

“All About You” is a well written and produced song filled with emotion. Through its lyrics, listeners will be able to connect with the situation being conveyed and the song’s arrangement effectively channels those emotions. An artist to watch in 2020, Deana DeMola has the voice of a pop star and the songwriting talent to fuel a long and successful career in pop music.
