Leslie Craig - 'Far Side of River Jordan'

Review by Sylvie Marie & Staff

Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, Leslie Craig is a singer-songwriter who writes music influenced by rock, dance, country, and blues. Leslie is a lifelong musician and singer whose many years of performing experience included everything from duos to ten-piece bands, singing every genre of music. She was a resident at the world-famous Tootsie's Orchid Lounge, where she performed 5 nights a week and was joined onstage by Hank Williams Jr., Kris Kristofferson, Gavin DeGraw, Kix Brooks, Bobby Brown, and Jake Owen, among others. Tootsie's featured Leslie in their 50th anniversary concert at The Ryman Auditorium, where she shared the stage with Kristofferson, Jamey Johnson, Little Jimmie Dickens, Mel Tillis, and Randy Houser, to name a few. While in Nashville, Leslie met Grammy producer Billy Smiley and the partnership resulted in Leslie's first full-length album, "Wild Card", which was released on iTunes in April 2013 and features 12 songs, 7 of which Leslie wrote or co-wrote. The song "Far Side of Jordan" is a great way to experience the ever-lasting beauty of Leslie Craig's music.

Set to beautiful, flowing piano "Far Side of Jordan," commences with a skin-tingling vocal performance by Leslie Craig. "You could be the one to rescue me, when the storms closin' in. Refuge from uncertainties, a shelter from within." Leslie's voice takes center stage as the the duo, between voice and piano, moves like two elegant dancers.

The track, which is piano centered, compliments Leslie's voice with a stunning composition, phrases played with artistic nuance, and a keen sense of dynamics. Likewise, Leslie has mastered the art of musical expression with exquisite tone and timbre. Her colorful voice is filled with earthiness; county, blues and gospel are found in the roots.

The moving song, "Far Side of River Jordan" cannot be put into a genre. The song will appeal to fans of country, soul, blues, inspirational, and rock music. That is to say, this is a timeless song. The lyrics explores how easily love can float way by strong currents and weak souls. It is a song about a love that can find it's way home through strength and resiliency, even in deep waters.

"Far Side of River Jordan" is a musical refuge for the weary soul. It's sheer beauty and uplifting message will lead you home.

Leslie Craig showcases one of the most moving and authentic voices of our time by simply being who she is, an artist; she was born to sing this song and after one listen, you will hear why.
